Itinerary 2 - Wedding

A little background - Punta Mita is a gated peninsula 40 min - 1 hr outside of Puerto Vallarta. There are two main hotels, the Four Seasons and the St Regis. other than that there is an array of condos and houses to rent. the main way of transportation is by golf cart which you are usally provided with. there is not a main beach you go and set a towel down at, what you do is you go to one of the 5 beach/ocean clubs (Sufi, Sea Breeze, El Surf, Pacifico, and Kupuri) Just outside the gates to the community is a small town called Punta de Mita Village which is totally safe to go into and has many fun shops and cool resturants. You are allowed to take your golf cart into town too.
Day 1 / Dallas - Peurto Vallarta
Flew into PVR at around 11 am on a thursday. We had checked a couple of bags so we waited for those and went throw customs and another TSA before leaving the airport. If you had rented a car like we did there are offices just outside the exit where they will show you to the van stop for that rental company. We had rented through enterprise. (Tip - don't rent a super flashy car as people will assume you are tourists and pull you over. friends of ours rented a ford bronco and got pulled over twice on the way to Punta Mita) Drove around 45 minutes out to Punta Mita. Be careful as there are MANY unmarked speed bumps. Also as your driving through La Cruz de Huanacaxtle there are pot holes. When you arrive to Punta Mita there are two entrances the first one is right after the Punta De Mita city sign and the other is the at the end of the street. If it is your first time I would take the second because the first will confuse you as it a windy road. At either gat though they will ask you for your name and where you are staying. Ask for a map too. We stayed at El Encanto which is 4, 3 story buildings each floor has only one unit. Most condos have golf carts which is the main way to get around and you can also take them into town. When we got to El Encanto there is a separate gate to this part of the development where you say your name and what unit you are in. When we got to our condo we put our bags down and deiced to drive around in the golf cart. We stopped at Sufi Ocean Club and ended up having a quick bite to eat. It was a cloudy day so we didn't stay long. Later that night we had dinner reservations at Casa Teresa. It is a italian food place in Punta de Mita village with great outdoor seating.
Day 2 / Beach and switching accommodations
We woke up around 7 am ish and ended up seeing an amazing sunset out on our patio. around 9 am we got in our golf cart and headed to Pacifico Beach Club. When you check into your accommodations you are giving a Punta MIta card with your name and check in/out date. they will ask you to show it at the entry of all beach clubs to prove that you are staying there. We got chairs and laid down. Lunch menu is not open until 12. All beaches in Mexico are public however the beach that Pacifico is on is barricaded by two cliffs. On the right the Four Seasons and on the left the St regis. For lunch I got the Baja fried fish tacos and they were the best fish tacos I've ever. Around 2 pm we had to leave to check out of our condo and head to the Conrad. (The Conrad is an amazing hotel which was where the wedding was that we were attending. The only downside is that it is not in the Punta Mita peninsula so you cant use the beach clubs/ amenities. Once we had packed up we drove out to the Conrad and checked in. Friday night was the welcome party. We went down to the party around 6 pm (Tuki Terrace) and it was extremely hot even though it was November. Had dinner at Arbol the only indoor restaurant at the Conrad that had air conditioning.
Day 3 / Pool Day - Rehearsal Dinner
Woke up around 10 am and went down to Arbol where they host the breakfast buffet (The Conrad is not a all- inclusive and breakfast is not free) One of my favorite hotel buffets in the world. A property buy out had checked out the day we checked in so it felt like we had the hotel all to ourselves. Around 11 am we headed down to the pool and grabbed our chairs. Had the hotel of not been so empty we would have reserved our seats before breakfast. Spent the day at the pool with all the other wedding guests. The pools menu is good and it one of their other restaurants called Paleta. The Rehearsal dinner was off property so there was organized transportation leaving at 5:45. (Note if you are stayong in one of the casas on the beach, call down to the front desk and ask for a golf cart to pick you up if you don't want to walk all the way to the main building) The Rehearsal Dinner was at an amazing place in Punta de Mita Village called Zicatela. Dinner was served family style which meant I got to try multiple different things. After speeches it was around 9pm and some vans where already there to pick people up. Last van left at 10pm and I got on that one.
Day 4 / Wedding Day
Had breakfast again at the buffet and then went on to the pool. After about an hour I went out into the ocean and the way were huge which I loved and had fun attempting jumping over them. The Ceremony started at 5:30 on a lawn over looking the ocean (Haramara Garden) and Lasted about 15 minutes. After words we where led by a mariachi band to the reception at the hotels signature restaurant Codex. The entrance to codex was a bridge walk way with tons of greenery on either side with candles all the way down. Codex is an open air restaurant that goes right out to the beach. The first part of dinner was cocktail hour where they passed out Aperal Spritz, Champagne, and some sort've pineapple drink. The dinner menu was as followed - Appetizer: Burrata and Beet Salad; Main: The option of a Filet Mignon or Catch of the Day with a Avocado Risotto; Dessert: Tres Leches Cake and Churros. I had the fish which was cooked perfectly and ended up ordering a second helping of the risotto because it was so good. After the father of the brides speech and the first dances the dancing started. There was a DJ which was actually DJ'ing. Every now and then servers would bring out drinks such as Carajillos and some sort of shot. The reception ended at 11pm.
Day 5 / Pool Day
Most people were leaving today so we headed to the lobby to say goodbye then had breakfast at the buffet. spent the day at the pool and went to lunch on the beach at Mesquite. Dinner was in Punta de Mita Village at a place called Mina (Si Senor) They have a great tamales appetizer and churros for dessert.
Day 6 / Departure
Woke up and checked out and headed to the airport. The day we were checking out a big company insinuative trip was checking in and we were glad we were missing that. Customs was easy at PVR.
