Day 0-1 / Travel

Flew to Vienna with a connection in Heathrow (London) our second flight (LHR - VIE) was in a different terminal which conveniently was in a separate building you have to take a bus to. So we had to go through TSA again and Europe doesn't do TSA-Pre. And to add to that in England you have to put your toiletries in clear bags and only one per person. So we got stopped and Some of us had to throw away our toiletries.

Day 1 / Vienna Arrival

Arrived in Vienna around 7ish, Checked into the Park Hyatt Vienna (An Amazing Location in a renovated bank)  and decided to go to dinner at a cafe we had seen on our way in. We found out the next day that it was one of the most famous cafes (Cafe Central) in Vienna where lots of writers would go (Polgar, Zweig and Altenberg)

Day 2 / Vienna

We started the day with a 3hr private walking tour. Our guide (Through a company called Tours by Locals Email: Guide_16559-14@toursbylocals.com Name: Katharina T.) was awesome and curated some facts towards my brother and I’s interest, for me Mozart, and for my brother some war facts. She showed us around the original city (what was walled in the 1400s) and its history and what she suggested doing later on in our trip. For lunch she suggested going to Gusthaus Reinthaler, a traditional Austrian restaurant. Which was very good. (Most food here is fried) then we got on the subway (Public transportation is amazing here) to Schonbrunn Palace. We had bought tickets 1 week in advance which I recommend doing because the line at the ticket office was very long. The Palace was an easy walk through with self-guided audio. There are very extensive gardens but we didn't care to do them. For dinner we went to an Italian restaurant (Al Caminetto) . Definitely go to several different types of restaurants here as you can easily get tired of the food.

Day 3 / Vienna

We went back to Cafe Central for breakfast (Has a very long line would go as early as possible) Our first stop was St. Stephens Cathedral where you can buy tickets for an audio guide on the history and then a tour of the catacombs (every 30 minutes) and finally there are two tower options, one with an elevator and one with stairs. We chose the elevator although it is not as high as the other tower. The views are breathtaking so if you didn't want to do the whole thing I would at least do this. We walked around the area and stopped in a few shops and had lunch at a pho place (Ivy's Pho Grill) We continued walking around and ended up stopping by a basketball game for a beer. We walked around the Horburg Wiens gardens. We had Aperitifs at Bar Campari and then went to an Austrian Restaurant for dinner (Reinthaler's Beisl) One thing I'd wish we’d done was the library in the Horburg but our guide said there was no point since we had already gone to a palace.

Day 4 / Vienna - Prague

We asked the night before if the hotel could get us a car to go to the Train Station (Sudtiroler Platz) The Train is 3hr and 56 min long (Reserve seating so you'll be able to sit together) Luggage was not a problem just brought it with us. The Train supposedly had a snack bar but we didn't go over to that train car. When we got to Prague we called an uber to get us to the hotel (Ubers are very Popular in Prague) The currency is Czech Koruna not Euro so you'll need to remember to convert prices by multiplying CZK by .046 to get USD. They do take USD and Euro most everywhere though. We checked into our hotel which was Hotel Kings Court but another great option would be the 4 Seasons Prague. Had lunch at an Italian place called la Scala. We had a 3hr private tour guide in the afternoon which always helps us get a lay of the land. I would not recommend our guide. She didn't really give much information about the city and took us to a few areas that were kinda boring and I would deem the Times Square of Prague. We had dinner at U Stupartu which was just a basic restaurant for the area. Got a famous Prague style ice cream (Trdelníks or chimney cakes) , a Cinnamon covered pastry cone filled with ice cream.

Day 5 / Prague

Had breakfast at a local Restaurant next door to our hotel. Then walked to the top of Prasna Brana, an old tower and city gate originally used for storing gunpowder. Walked around the old town square then got on the subway to the subway station Malostranska and walked up to the Castle (Prague Castle) Bought tickets once we got there but they had run out of audio guides so we went without. (If you want one or an in person guide I suggest buying tickets in advance) The Castle itself was pretty boring and just the bones (all the furniture and paintings were taken) The cathedral was pretty and had a tower you could climb to the top of this one was 280ish steps. The views were amazing and having the church on top of a hill outside the town was even better. Had dinner at a recommended traditional Czech restaurant (Restaurace Mincovna) I would definitely eat here to try Czech.

Day 6 / Prague - Munich

Called an Uber from the hotel to the Train Station (Prague Main Train Station) Started off fine with our original train from Prague to Munich which was going to take 5ish hrs but around hour 4 the train had to stop at a small station and everyone had to get off but they said if we go on a different train to the next station that there was another train to Munich. Ended up having to buy train tickets on the train just in time for the ticket checker. Checked into our hotel the Mandarin Oriental Munich. Had dinner at a Chinese restaurant nearby.

Day 7 / Munich

Had a 3 hr morning private guide who was an American who had moved to Munich a couple years back and loved it. (Through Tours by Locals Email: Guide_19886-88@toursbylocals.com Name: Scott Stephens) He even wore a traditional outfit called Lederhosen. He walked us around the main square called Marien Platz and then to a restaurant called Schneider Brauhaus Munchen. Where we sat and had beer and pretzels and even met his family who was there at the same time. (Every sunday you dress up and go with your friends and family to a beer house and have boiled sausages, pretzels, and of course beer) He also taught us the traditional cheers and how you pour your beer in a glass (Pour most of it then swirl the bottle around to get all the yeast to create a white top and pour it on then you cheers from the bottom of the glass and say “Prost”)  We walked around the area and he gave detailed information about the surroundings and showed us the famous beer house called Hofbrauhaus which used to be the royal beer. Had lunch at Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl am Dom which is known for their sausages that come with German potato salad in 6, 8, or 10 sausages. We were a little late to meet him in our lobby so he even went an hour over the paid time. After that we went to the WWll museum which was very depressing and mostly words. Had dinner at Xaver’s a suggested restaurant.

Day 8 / Munich

We looked into going to Nuewnstien castle but everything was booked and it is a day trip. (If you want to go I suggest getting tickets a couple months in advance) We walked around the local market (Viktualienmarkt) and ended up picking some food from each stand and had it at a picnic table for lunch. I then walked to the top of a nearby church's lookout tower (St Peters) which was 306 steps. We walked into a few really pretty churches, one being Asamkirche. Then we walked through a park and went back to the hotel. Had dinner at the hotel.

Day 9 / Munich

Went to the BMW museum and showroom. The museum had some cool vintage cars including Elvis Presleys but the showroom was pretty boring. Had lunch back at Schneider Bräuhaus Munchen. And went back to the hotel to pack and lie by the rooftop pool.

Day 10 / Munich - Dallas

Asked the Concierge the night before about a ride to the airport they said they’ll call us a car service because cabs are nearly $2 per minute. TSA went by quickly but if you're a morning flight you'll have to wait at several spots because they don't open the entire airport all at once some gates remain closed till a certain time.

Other Recommended Restaurants in Munich
